April 2025 – Pathways to Success

May 7, 2025

At Outschool, we believe that empowering educators with the right tools, insights, and updates fuels better learning experiences—and more bookings. Each month, Pathways to Success highlights recent feature releases and enhancements, along with practical tips on how to use them to grow your teaching business.

This month’s updates include major improvements to class requestsAI-powered class recapssummer camp visibilitymembership perks, and more. As always, our goal is to help you experiment intentionally, optimize your offerings, and keep learner bookings as your north star.

🔍 Feature Highlight #1: Class Requests – Fully Rolled Out!

What’s New:
The Class Request feature is now fully live for all families and educators! Parents can submit up to 3 requests per day, and educators can respond to up to 3 per day, creating a high-signal, low-spam opportunity to connect with interested families.

How to Use It Strategically:

  • 🔗 Already have a class that fits? Don’t just drop the link—sell it. Treat this like your Shark Tank moment: give your elevator pitch, highlight outcomes, explain your teaching style, and connect it to the learner’s needs. Help the parent visualize their child succeeding in your class.
  • ✨ Don’t have a class that fits (yet)? Pause and reflect:
    • Does this request align with your business goals?
    • Would it support or distract from your current class funnel?
    • Does it fit your niche and long-term strategy?

Class creation should be strategic and data-driven, not reactive. Use this feature to test demand, validate ideas, and make thoughtful business decisions.

📌 Pro Tip: Responses that go beyond your class description and focus on learner transformation are more likely to result in enrollments.

🤖 Feature Highlight #2: AI-Powered Class Recaps – Smarter & Easier

What’s New:
We’ve expanded and improved the AI Class Recap feature! These summaries are generated using Zoom transcripts (specifically, what the teacher says—not learner content) and help educators easily send thoughtful post-class updates to families.

Key Updates This Month:

  • The review window has been extended from 1 hour to 4 hours based on your feedback.
  • Adoption is strong: less than 15% of educators in the rollout group have opted out, and even fewer are editing the recaps, indicating alignment with educator needs.
  • Don’t see this yet? That’s ok, this feature is still rolling out as we learn and iterate.

Why It Matters:
Teachers who regularly send post-class follow-ups see stronger learner retention and parent satisfaction. AI Recaps are helping to reduce the workload and level up communication consistency for educators across the board.

📌 Reminder: If a learner’s name appears in the recap, it’s because the teacher said it during class. AI only summarizes the teacher transcript.

☀️ Feature Highlight #3: Summer Camp Merchandising is Live!

What’s New:
Summer is heating up, and Outschool’s on-site merchandising and off-site marketingfor summer camps is already underway. This means increased visibility for camp-style classes across search, emails, and ads.

Best Practices for Summer Success:

  • Don’t just think “fun”—think fun with a purpose. Learning still matters in the summer; it’s just happening in new, engaging ways.
  • Position your camp to solve a problem: enrichment, boredom busters, readiness for fall, etc.
  • Use images and titles that capture the energy of your summer learning adventure!

📌 Get Inspired: Whether you’re creating themed camps, skill builders, or passion projects, now is the time to list or relist those summer sessions.

💳 Feature Highlight #4: Membership Updates – Now with Coupons!

What’s New:
Outschool Memberships launched in February, and families are loving the predictable pricing and perks. Now, there’s another reason to love them—coupons can now be applied to classes that are enrolled in via memberships!

Why It Matters:
This added flexibility encourages more families to try Memberships, leading to more committed learners and longer-term bookings for your classes.

📌 Educator Tip: Make sure your classes are clearly listed and well-optimized. Families with memberships will be looking for high-quality options to fill their learners’ time each week.
