Pricing classes based on Outschool market trends

Get Outschool’s latest guidance on setting fees for your classes.

As an educator entrepreneur, pricing is one of the most important decisions you’ll make about each class you offer. In setting price points, you balance your own opportunity costs and business goals with an understanding of how your offerings align with the market to determine a fair price.

Low prices could drive more enrollments, but they may not lead to a sustainable business. High prices might price you out of business growth. To further complicate matters, the marketplace has seasonal and macroeconomic effects to consider. It’s important to periodically reflect on all areas of your class listings, including pricing, as the market changes over time, and we know these factors make the decision to change your fees complex.

The last few years have created greater unpredictability in the virtual learning market, with shifting schooling habits and global inflation creating the most uncertainty. In an effort to provide more insight into the Outschool marketplace, our team of analysts has created the following guide to help you make smart decisions about pricing and stay competitive.

These recommendations are based on thorough research into what families are currently paying for different types of classes on our platform. We want you to feel confident pricing your classes with fees that align with current Outschool market trends and set your business up for success.

By updating your pricing to reflect current market trends, you have the opportunity to assign a value to the learning experiences you create that matches up with what customers are willing to pay. Additionally, Outschool will continue to develop and invest in new initiatives that expand access to the platform for all family budgets, including (but not limited to) Outschool.org partnerships, charter school education spending accounts (ESAs), and free community programming.
