Outschool’s class approval process takes into account learners’ privacy rights when determining which external teaching tools are appropriate for our learners to access and use in an Outschool class. This includes external websites, learning management systems, and Zoom apps enabled through the Zoom classroom. Learn more about using third-party tools in your Outschool classes and COPPA requirements by reviewing this policy.
Though Outschool is unable to share specific details on how the decision to approve each tool is made, we believe that the following lists reflect our goal of keeping learners safe. At this time we are unable to reverse decisions made about unapproved resources.
If you don’t see a teaching tool on either list below but would like to use it in an existing approved class listing, please review the website’s privacy policy to determine whether the site is COPPA-compliant, looking for details such as whether it has an age restriction in place or requires parental support and consent (such as account creation). A website’s Privacy Policy can be a good place to start to find this info.
If you have suggestions for other third-party services you’d like Outschool to consider for review and approval, please fill out this form.
Unapproved resources for learners under 13
Note: This list of unapproved resources is only applicable if you are trying to send learners to these external websites or resources. You may continue to use materials—such as Teachers Pay Teachers or Vimeo—in your classroom presentations and lectures as long as you are not linking to them or giving learners under 13 a way to click into any of these sites on their own.

*Note that YouTube is not intended to be visited and used by children under 13 and thus is a non-COPPA compliant resource. However, Outschool has developed a way for you to use YouTube videos in your classes in a legally compliant way. All you need to do is add the YouTube link to your Classroom Post, and Outschool will automatically embed the link so that learners remain on the Outschool platform and don’t access the YouTube website. Learn more in this support article.
**If you plan to use enabled Zoom apps, such as Kahoot, you should always disclose them as third party tools in the class listing.
