Using Culturally Responsive Spaces to Foster the Magnitude of Us

June 24, 2025 @ 11:30 am - 12:45 pm PDT

The recent 70th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education reminds us of the historical importance of the Brown decision and the fact that there is much work to be done to help bring Brown’s full dream of equity for all students to fruition. This landmark moment also reiterates the ever-growing need to support and sustain critical consciousness and culturally responsive teaching and leading.

During this webinar, Dr. Bunch will share an overview of the Brown v. Board implications, its unintended consequences, and how we can work to help bring Brown’s full dream into existence through action-oriented tools that help build and sustain inclusive and more equitable spaces where all students can realize their full potential.

Drawing from Dr. Bunch’s research regarding Black female educators in Mississippi who taught pre/post desegregation and her recent publication The Magnitude of Us: A Guidebook for Creating Culturally Responsive Classrooms (Teachers College Press, 2024), we will move from the historical to the present, allowing us to examine how culturally responsive teaching, leading, and curricula are paramount.
